Energy Efficiency Training Program

Fourth Sector Strategies is leading the Energy Efficiency Training Program to help local workers add green skills and pursue green careers. The 100-hour program offers a $480 stipend to area residents age 18 and up.

The program targets out of work or part time workers who have some experience in the trades, building operations and maintenance, construction, and other technical or hands-on fields.

It consists of two phases: a 40 hour classroom phase, and a 60 hour field experience phase.  The classroom phase builds a broad foundation of energy and climate science, and provides more detailed education in energy efficiency auditing and measures. Experts in energy efficiency and other topics will be invited to present. The field experience phase begins with an orientation with the Sierra Nevada Energy Watch Local Government Partnership staff, moves on to shadow and training audits, and aims to have participants completing independent audits at the conclusion of the their 60 hour field experience. Additionally, the field experience portion will include field visits to local hydro-power facilities, solar PV and solar thermal projects, green building projects, and other applicable experiences.
